THE SITUATION

The knowledge is in the building. It just isn't written down.

There is a man on your shopfloor — let us call him Suresh — who can tell you what is wrong with a machine by the sound it makes as it starts. He has been doing it for twenty-two years. He retires in fourteen months.

Nobody has written down what Suresh knows, because nobody has ever had a way to. It is not in the OEM manual. It is not in the maintenance log, which only records what was replaced, never why. When he goes, the plant will take three years to relearn things he could have told you in an afternoon.

This is the actual problem with AI in industry, and it is not a model problem. The knowledge exists, spread across people, machines, drawings and habit. It has never been collected in a form a machine could read, and most of the reason is that collecting it has always meant asking busy people to fill in forms they will not fill in.

So we build the collection into the work. Every one of the four modules below has the same shape: it does something useful on day one, and as a by-product of being used, it writes down what the company knows. That record is yours, and it stays in your building.

We are not trying to replace Suresh. We are trying to make sure the company still knows what he knows in 2031.

MODULE 01 · VEDA

Understanding machines and vehicles.

A truck comes into the workshop with a fault nobody can place. Three technicians look at it. Each has a theory. Two hours later they are still guessing.

VEDA reads what the machine is actually saying — the signals on its bus, the pattern of past repairs on this model, what the last engineer wrote — and comes back with a ranked list: check this first, then this, and here is why.

The technician agrees or disagrees. That answer is the valuable part: it is the only thing VEDA learns from, and over a year it turns three technicians' instinct into something the fourth one can use on their first day.

Why small models

A giant general model knows a little about everything and cannot run in your workshop. A small model trained on your machines knows a lot about the twelve things you actually own, fits on a box in the corner, answers in under a second, and works when the internet is down — which in a workshop, it is.

The manual, finally usable.

The manual for the machine is a 400-page PDF on a laptop in the supervisor's office. The man who needs page 212 is standing at the machine with both hands dirty. He asks the person next to him instead, and gets it half right.

Nirdesh is what an OEM manual should have been: you ask out loud, and it walks you through the procedure one step at a time, in your language, knowing which machine you are standing at and which step you are on.

No screen to hold, no gloves to take off, no signal needed. And when someone finds that step 4 does not work the way the manual says on the 2019 unit, they say so out loud — and the manual is corrected for everyone, permanently.

What OEMs get from it

If you build machines, this is what you ship instead of a PDF. You find out which procedures your customers actually struggle with, which parts get replaced wrongly, and which step in your documentation is costing your service team the most calls.

MODULE 03 · DRISHTI

Drishti — watching the part, and the person.

A batch ships. Six weeks later it comes back. Somewhere in a shift three months ago, a fixture drifted by half a millimetre and nobody saw it. In the same three months, two people on that line developed back problems, and nobody connected the two.

Drishti is a camera and a model, looking at two things through the same eye. On the part: is this within tolerance, and is the drift getting worse. On the person: is anybody reaching, twisting or lifting in a way that will injure them in eighteen months.

The two are the same question. A badly laid-out station produces bad parts and bad backs, and the reason it does both is usually the same reach or the same angle. Looking at only one of them is how plants keep fixing the symptom.

On the person, carefully

Posture is measured as a skeleton of joint angles, not as video of a face — that is what the armature in the model represents. It is a safety instrument, not a productivity monitor, and we will help you write the policy that says so before it goes live. Nothing leaves the site.

MODULE 04 · VCAD

VCAD — describe the bracket, get the bracket.

A design engineer needs a mounting bracket. It is not interesting work. It takes her a day and a half, most of which is clicking. Then the customer asks what its carbon number is, and nobody in the company can answer.

VCAD is CAD where the first draft is generated. You describe the part — what it mounts to, what it must carry, what it must fit inside — and it produces real geometry you can open, edit and manufacture.

Two numbers come with it, and they are the point. It shows you where the load actually travels through the part and where it will fail first — that is the warm spot on the model. And it tells you the carbon in the thing, broken down by material and process, before you commit to it rather than in a report a year later.

Why this matters commercially

European customers are already asking Indian suppliers for embodied-carbon figures per part. Most cannot produce them. Being able to answer, at quotation time, with a number you can defend, is turning into a condition of doing business — not a sustainability initiative.
